Only Two Days To Pack

I just realized that we only have two days to pack. I did a thorough cleaning of the house today, but haven't made any progress on the packing. John has some great lists of what we need to do and what we need to pack, but it seems so overwhelming. It's funny that John has been stressing all week, but I've been perfectly calm. Now, we've switched places. He's cool as a cucumber and I'm the worry wart. I think only one of us can relax at a time.

Gabby came home today with a backpack full of books that seemed to weigh twenty pounds. She wants to take them all with us, but if we can, we'll xerox the pages that she needs and leave the books at home.

Today was a nice day at work for me. All of the gymnasts, parents and coaches wished us well. It's going to be hard to stay away from the gym for a week after we return, but it is what is best for Junie.

It's Time For Chocolate

I've been craving sweets for the last few days and have been giving in to the cravings. I must be anxious about our trip. I can't believe that it is finally going to happen after waiting so long. Our dining room table is completely covered with all sorts of things that we need to take with us to China. As I began to purchase baby stuff, new clothes for all of us, and other various items, I decided that it didn't make sense to put it away with only a week until travel. So, I just started piling stuff up on the table. It's a bit messy, but at least everything is in one place. Trying to fit it all into three suitcases is going to be the real trick.

Paperwork is done

I finally finished compiling all the paperwork for our trip to China. It feels good to have it all ready to go. It feels like there is so much to do before we leave, but most of what we have to do, packing and cleaning, has to wait until Sunday.

Gymnastics was crazy today. It was the first day back after the summer break and since we got our referral. All of the parents and kids were wishing me and Gabby well and asking us questions about the trip. I'm going to miss being there during my maternity leave, but I know the kids are in good hands.

Back to School

Gabby started middle school today. Each morning I watch two of Gabby's friends and their siblings, so Gabby had two friends to ride over to school with her this morning. The two siblings are in two different elementary schools, so they start an hour later than the big kids. In a few minutes, I'll drop them off.

Gabby has a big task ahead of her this week. She needs to get her homework for the next three weeks so she won't fall behind when we're in China.

One Week To Go

One week from today we'll begin our trip to China. With the 7 hour layover in Detroit, it'll take us about 31 hours to get there. I don't think any of us are looking forward to the travel, but we're very excited about meeting June.

Gabby starts middle school tomorrow. We did a little bit of last minute clothes shopping. It's hard to be believe that summer is over already.

It's A Crib

Today we put together our Junie's crib. It was first used by our niece who is now 22, then our daugher, Gabby, who is 11 and now by Junie, who is 14 months old. The problem with second hand cribs is that there are no instructions. We had a couple of parts that we weren't sure of, but in less than an hour we got it together. What we quickly realized is that we have no crib sheets or blankets. So, it's off to Walmart again.

Only eight days till we leave.

Lists, Lists, Lists

It's just a little over a week until we leave for China, so we've been making lots of lists. We have lists of medicines to pack, lists of clothes to pack, lists of things to buy and lists of things to do.

Still have to do some clothes shopping and a little bit of shopping for baby supplies, bottles and such. Gabby and I will tackle that today. I can't believe that in just nind days we'll be leaving on a plane to China.
