Baiyun Mountain

Yesterday we went to Baiyun Mountain. It is a beautiful park with gardens, sculptures, and statues. We rode the cable cars to the top as walking to the top of the mountain would have been too much with the babies.

At the top, there was a bird show with a variety of parrots. The highlight of the show is when two of the parrots flew into the audience to collect money/tips. John held up a 1 yuan bill. One of the parrots did land on his hand, but looked at the bill and flew away without it. Thinking that maybe the bird wanted something larger, John held up a 10 yuan bill. This time when the parrot landed on John's hand, the bird immediately took the money. With the current exchange rate 10 yuan is only worth about $1.33 US, so maybe the bird wasn't impressed with the 1 yuan bill.
