Shaiman Island

After the medical exam we had an hour and a half to shop on Shaiman Island. The first stop we made was at the grocery store. The formula that June is used to isn't available near our hotel, but is available on Shaiman Island, so we bought a bunch. We also found the equivalent of a Nutty Buddy ice cream cone there. Gabby and I were in heaven. We sat outside and chowed them down.

We also did some clothes shopping for June while we were there. We were able to get dresses and two piece outfits for between 38 yuan ($5) and 75 yuan ($10). We probably purchased around 15 outfits.

What is amazing at all of the shops everywhere here is the service. We didn't have to pick out anything. The shop keepers just kept bringing us outfit after outfit until we said we were done. They did it with a sense of urgency like if they weren't quick enough, you'd leave. If you asked for something like shoes, the shop keeper would rush over to the shoe area and pull out pair after pair. It is also like this by the hotel. I commented to John that when the Chinese travel to the US, we must seem rude to them.
