John and I still have not figured out how to get your bill when you eat at the hotel. Everything is so service oriented here. There is a person to seat you, a person to put the silverwear on the table, a person to remove used dishes as soon as you finish, a person to fill your water, and another person to bring you your meal, but we never seem to be able to get anyone to bring us the bill.
Last night we sat for half and hour after we finished eating dessert, waiting to get someone's attention. We did all the tricks that are telltale signs that we were finished. We all put our forks down. When that didn't work, we pushed our plates away from us. No luck. I tried to made eye contact with a couple of people and smiled. That didn't work because they didn't look at me. Finally, I loudly said excuse me to a girl who was setting the tables and asked for our bill. I'm not sure if she understood us, but she had someone else come to see what we wanted. I'm beginning to wonder if you have to flag someone down when you are finished.
