Passport Pictures and Medical Exams

We went to Shaiman Island today to get June's passport pictures taken and to have her medical exam done. The passport picture only took ten seconds. We spent about a half an hour waiting in line for the medical exams. There were other adoption groups there ahead of us and quite a few crying babies. Looking around at our group, we all looked pretty worn out.

Once we went in for the exams, there were three different areas that we had to visit. All of our group went in at once and lined up in the different areas, then moved on when we were done. The first area we went to was for weighing and measuring our daughters. Two nurses worked together to get our babies on the scales, take their temperatures, and measure their length. June came in at a healthy 30 inches long and 18 pounds.

In the second area a nurse made sure that June could hear by squeaking a little plastic frog first on her left side and then on her right. Junie quickly turned to grab the frog which got a big smile from the nurse. The nurse also looked in June's throat and ears. The only comment she made was, "Ear wax."

The third and last area that we visited was to see the doctor. She asked us a couple of questions, measured June's head, poked June's belly, then signed off on the paperwork saying that June is healthy. I don't think we were in there more than five minutes.

During this entire process, we didn't hear even a peep out of Junie. Some of the other babies were quiet, others were screaming. So far, unless June is tired, she doesn't cry.
