We were lucky that June was the only baby in our group from the Zhanjiang orphanage. It meant that we had her nanny and orphanage director all to ourselves during the time to ask questions. We found out that June was not a big napper, but sleeps good at night. She did not sleep during the entire five and a half hour ride from the orphanage to Guangzhou, but she did finally konk out just before we left the offices to head back to the hotel. She only slept during the half hour ride and then promtly woke up when we got off the bus.
The nannies told us that June is almost always a happy, easy going baby. She doesn't cry often and is easily soothed. We were also told by the nannies that June had been quite naughty while all the babies were waiting for us. Apparently, she was taking away the toys from the other babies and making them cry. The nannies thought that it was very important for us to know this. Not only did they tell us, but they told our guide too. Go figure that we would have a take charge kind of kid.
